I was finally lucky enough to do something I have always wanted to do - a fly-in fishing trip! This was a Bucket List item for me, and it was every bit as amazing as I thought it would be! And I'm proud to say I brought in the biggest fish of the week, a 33" Pike!
I am including this trip here just for inspiration, and to give you an idea of pricing. Like any package, this can be completely customized to suit your needs by adding a guide, bait, etc., and I would be happy to work with you to design you the perfect trip. Our trip departed in and out of Armstrong, ON, and as it was a morning flight we opted to spend the night in Armstrong to avoid an early 3 hour drive. We departed the float plane base at 9AM and were on the resort before 10AM eating breakfast and on the lake fishing by noon.
Our resort was called Striker's Point Lodge, and is one of three full service (think all inclusive) lodges owned by this company, and it included pretty much everything: flights in and out of the resort; 2 bedroom (sleeps 6) cabin with fridge, fireplace and full bathroom; boat & gas; all meals including made to order breakfast, box lunch or shore lunch (they will actually meet you on the lake and cook for you), a cocktail hour featuring snacks and drinks; and a 3 course meal which rivaled that of any 5* resort I have stayed in. The only thing we had to buy/bring was bait which Wilderness North can help you with; our personal snacks; our personal items such as clothing, etc.; and our alcohol. The resort also offers guide service, a campfire area with pre-split wood; a barbecue area; canoes & kayaks; a beach area; and some hiking trails all right on site, but you can can also find numerous beaches out on the lake where you can stop and have a campfire, which we did often, as well as do some hiking and exploring.
The customer service I received in planning this trip, and while on the resort, also rivaled that of a 5* resort, and the people in the office, and on the resort, provided fantastic and friendly service, and even accommodated one of my party that had food allergies and prepared separate meals for him.
The company I went with has been around for years, and they offer a variety of experiences to include full service lodges, housekeeping cabins, out post camps, fly fishing trips, and self-guided canoe trips, and while these trips are not inexpensive when compared to a typical beach vacation, they are not outrageous either when you think of the inclusions, the family time with your kids, and the amazing memories all of you will take away with you. It is worth every single penny and are definitely one to consider for your next family vacation.
